Project Description

Held at Bahrabigha, Janakpur during the auspicious occasion of Bibaha Panchami, the Janakpur Eye Camp served as a vital community health intervention, addressing one of the most common yet treatable causes of preventable blindness. Organized by the Army Division Headquarters, Bardibas, with technical support from Matrika Eye Care Center and coordination and general support from the Rotary Club of Himalayan Golfers (RCHG), the camp successfully conducted 718 screenings & 93 cataract surgeries.
For many beneficiaries, this initiative restored not only their eyesight but also their independence, dignity, and ability to earn a livelihood, thereby directly enhancing their quality of life. By delivering specialized eye care services at the community level—especially during a time when large numbers of people had gathered for a major cultural festival— the project ensured accessible, timely, and inclusive healthcare for underserved populations. The Janakpur Eye Camp stands as a strong example of effective collaboration and community-centered service, creating a lasting and meaningful impact on public health and social well-being.
